Match Report

After the fantastic start to the season Ripley were not at their best like the previous 2 weeks games. Ripley went a goal behind when their defensive clearance fell to a Clipstone player who finished well. Ripley upped their game and drew level from a free kick taken by Thomas Rankin and they searched for a second goal but it was Clipstone who scored to lead 2-1. Clipstone could have extended their lead but for some good saves and clearances by Aeron Broadhurst in goal credit to Ripley they pushed for the eaqualiser and got their reward just before half time with Thomas Rankin scoring his second to make the half time score 2-2.

The second half continued as the first half finished with an even end to end game. For the first time in the game Ripley took the lead with a goal from Ciaran Gillespie but Clipstone fought back and equalised to make the score 3-3. Ripley did not let this affect them and had several shots saved or blocked by the Clipstone defence. Clipstone themselves also had several good chances but were denied by some good goalkeeping from second half keeper Seb Askew.  The game was evenly tied but Ripley scored a forth goal another well taken free kick by Thomas Rankin but Clipstone were not finished and managed to score an equaliser in the last minutes of the game. Despite an under par performance Ripley showed good character and managed to avoid defeat despite not playing their best - the sign of a good team.

Man of the match was Aeron Broadhurst
