Match Report |
Ripley Rangers Under 7s 1-2 Beaufort Whites U7s
Ripley were beaten despite dominating a game on the balance of chances
they should have won convincingly.
Ripley started in the ascendancy, Seb Askew setting the tempo with
some excellent tackles and good use of the ball.
Aeron Broadhurst, Thomas Rankin and Thomas Harrison were all denied in
a frantic opening, Beaufort's goal keeper producing a string of
excellent saves. Beaufort were also forced into some last ditch
defending to keep the score at 0-0. Zak Annable produced some powerful
runs showing excellent competitiveness.
Beaufort scored with their first meaningful attack, a rebounded effort.
Ripley continued to dominate and create chances but Beaufort doubled
their advantage prior to half time when Ripley failed to clear their
lines.
The second half followed a similar pattern with Ripley constantly
camped in Beaufort's half. Daniel Wilson showed some nice touches and
ensured Ripley kept the pressure on, Jack Langley also produced a
ferocious tackle winning the ball cleanly to repel any rare Beaufort
attacks.
Ripley eventually pulled a goal back midway through the second half,
Ciaran Gillespie controlling and finishing smartly.
Thomas Harrison, in goal for the second half dominated his area and
his huge kicks were the catalyst for more dangerous attacks.
Gillespie then had two efforts well saved by the Beaufort goal keeper
and also drilled an effort from outside the area narrowly wide as
Ripley pushed for an equaliser.
The equaliser never came and Ripley can consider themselves unlucky in
the extreme.
Man of the Match: Ciaran Gillespie
