Match Report

On a grey windy Sunday morning Ripley Rangers U9’s took on Quarrydale. Within the first few minutes Quarrydale scored their first goal, quickly followed by a second and a third goal. With Ripley Rangers 3-0 behind, they had to dig deep and keep their heads up, they couldn’t go any further behind. There was a push forward and Jacob Stuart snatched the ball from the Quarrydale defence and took the shot on goal, it hit the target and we had clawed a goal back. The game continued with Billy Horne coming on for Rylee Fletcher-Slack in defence and Jacob taking his second shot on goal to bring the Rangers to 3-2 down. The half time whistle was fast approaching and we saw Coby Didcock kick a blinding goal in the top left of the net. We were drawing 3-3, the half time whistle blew. The boys had pulled back from a 3-0 deficit. After a team talk at half time the boys came out to take on the second half. The game played on and the Rangers attack could not pass the midfield and the Quarrydale number 4. Every run forward was blocked. The Rangers defence and Goalie, Noah Winfield, were put under pressure time and time again, which at times, got messy in the box, causing our hearts to stick in our throats! Play moved again to the Quarrydale end but still the Rangers could not break through. Quarrydale took the game to the Rangers end and their fourth goal came. The Rangers fought back but couldn’t get to the goal, final score 4-3 to Quarrydale. A brave effort for the team but it was not their week.
